Joy was already part of the Focal Point Designs family. We had previously transformed her old pergola into a solid patio cover with a new fan, lighting, and a few other upgrades around her home. So when she decided it was time to refresh her front and backyard landscaping, she didn’t hesitate to call us back — this time for our design expertise. Joy wanted a space that was beautiful but also practical for her lifestyle — something easier to maintain without giving up the charm and warmth of a classic yard. Together, we reimagined her outdoor spaces from the ground up. We incorporated thoughtful xeriscaping with plenty of river rock for texture and drainage, and we added a grassy area using Palisades Zoysia — soft underfoot, drought-tolerant, and easy to maintain. She loved the look and feel of the grass so much that she asked us to expand the section for even more green space in the front.

To bring in the natural Texas character she loved, we planted native species throughout the design and used honeycomb boulders as sculptural features in the front yard. We laid a natural patio stone walkway leading to her front door and garden hose area, creating a smooth flow through the space. For the finishing touches, we added landscape lighting for both beauty and nighttime safety, and built a custom stone mailbox that perfectly ties the entire design together. Now, Joy’s home feels completely refreshed — a seamless blend of natural beauty and easy upkeep. The project gave her a space that’s both welcoming and worry-free, designed to last and grow with her for years to come.
